Riprap

A layer of large, durable fragments of broken rocks specially selected and graded, thrown together irregularly or fitted together to prevent water erosion.

In 2011, the NPS implemented 8.5 miles of riprap shore banking at 30 sites around Lake Crescent to prevent water-based erosion and lake bank overflow.
